Swarm of black crows

Here is my latest illustration, that I've done inspired by a song "Crnih vrana roj" (Swarm of black crows) from Serbian punk band Six Pack. Illustration is actually destined for the book that Milan Radojević, lead guitarist, vocalist and songwriter is publishing soon.

Crnih vrana roj

Book will assemble most of his poems and lyrics, and thus he needed some artwork and illustrations to represent those words in visual form. Illustration had to be done in grey-scale for printing purposes. I am introducing this artwork to the public here for the first time  and I hope to see it soon in that book.
Peace to you all.

Marčelo - Tri Prsta

Here is something fresh. I've just finished this image. It is as usual inspired by music... in this case song "Tri prsta" (Three fingers) from a Serbian artist called Marčelo. I've already done couple of illustrations inspired by his music... and I think I will continue to do so. :)

Song is actually a story about a man who was victim of war, told from his father's perspective. It is dark, mysterious and sorrowful tale of tragedy. In this image I tried to represent one special line from song that says:

"A najviše me boli, najviše, ovog mi krsta,
što mu je granata raznela, vidiš, tri prsta.
Da, baš TA tri prsta!"

which means: "I swear, the thing that hurts me most is that grenade blew away his three finger. Yes THOSE three fingers."
Three fingers that are mentioned here are actual symbol of Serbian people. You can read about three-finger salute here.

Image is published here for the first time. I go now to add it to deviantART. Enjoy and comment!
Peace!

Iskaz

I've decided to post some illustrations that I've done for a band called Iskaz. They are from Pančevo, Serbia. They are crossover band that combines musical genres of metal, hiphop, funk into their own style. I've been their fan for a couple of years. And I've done couple of illustrations for them. This is first I'm gonna post. It's the artwork for their facebook page cover photo.

I've experimented with some vector shades just to get their anatomy right. In the background I used simple gradient from red to blue. And that's pretty much it. It was done using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

They were pretty satisfied with the image and accepted it as cover photo for facebook page. Image was firstly published here on facebook.

More illustrations to come. Peace!

Down below

So I decided to skip this week's entry for Odyssey II project. I have some other stuff to do, some other drawings. But here is something from a couple of months ago .... I did illustration inspired by a song named "Dole" (Down) from a Serbian hip-hop artist Marčelo. You might remember him from my previous post, where I did his portrait in a comic-book style. You can see that post here

Dole

Song follows the story about a guy that resides in mental institution. It's about his struggle with medicament, doctors and staff. Of course it's all a metphour for fight against mediocrity.

I firstly published this illustration on my deviantART account here.

Hope you enjoy.
Peace.

Odyssey II - Chapter 3

The story continues. It introduced to us some new characters, strange characters. This time I tried different approach for the artwork. I went for more classic image than my usual comic-cartoon style. All done in Photoshop for about 3-4 hours.

The Eye of Lysanna

You can read the Chapter 3 here to find out more about the story and what I tried to represent with this artwork.  I will quote one sentence that drew my attention:

"Her weakened body could not stand an assault from the sun's rays, nor could her eyes which were large and accustomed to the dark the way all deep sea creatures were."

I firstly published my illustration at deviantART website on this link. Once again my artwork wasn't selected for the book or for the runner ups, but I will try again.

Peace.

Odyssey II project - Chapter 2

So here we continue with Odyssey II project with Clive Barker. In previous post I posted my artwork for first chapter. Now here is my newest artwork for Chapter 2. I had very little time to do it. About 1 hour from initial idea to completion. If only I had another day to work on it I might added more details, but never-mind.

Introducing Maya
Once again my artwork wasn't selected for the book or for the runner ups, but that's not gonna stop me from trying again. You can see my artwork as was firstly published on deviantART here. You can read Chapter 2 that my artwork reflects here.

Peace.

Odyssey II project with Clive Barker

Well "Odyssey II" is a collaboration project on deviantART social network where artists submit their works of literature and art for the story. Clive Barker, the ultimate horror master, producer and director of Hellraiser movies, creator of Clive Barker's Undying and Clive Barker's Jericho video games , is partner to the project. Clive Barker starts us off with the Prologue for Odyssey II and selects the submissions for the final books. The ultimate creative challenge to produce the ultimate deviantART book. Every week one submission of literature and one artwork is chosen for next chapter. I joined the project with artwork for Chapter 1. Here is my submission on deviantART. You can read Chapter 1 here.

Shedding skin

Although my artwork wasn't chosen for first Chapter, I plan to continue drawing for other chapters. I'm already doing artwork for Chapter 2. I hope to win as one of Chapters submissions. Wish me luck and of course I'll keep you posted about this :D

Peace.

Natali

Hello everyone!
Here is another artwork I did few months ago. It is a portrait of my friend Natalija. I used reference from one of her pictures to do a comic book version of it.

Artwork is simply called "Natali" and at first I published it on my deviantART account here. She was very pleased with image and I enjoyed creating it. Words above/under image are taken from song lyrics. Song is "Malo vremena" (A little time) from Serbian band Iskaz. We are both huge fans of that band ;)

Peace.

Inform Yourselves!!

In last 2 months I've been working as a poster designer for a facebook page called Inform Yourselves!! It's one of those activism pages that support open mind philosophy, love, peace, education, tolerance and companionship. It is similar to some of my favorite activism pages like The Zeitgeist Movement, Truth Theory, True Activist or I fucking love science! It's like a mix of all those mentioned.

Anyway... I've been designing some motivational posters for the page and I'm gonna post some of my favorites here. If you want to check out the rest go to the photos section of this facebook page and look for my initials in the image of a poster.

Throughout these posters different themes were covered. Some are more political, some are music recommendations, some are from books or movies and some are just plain good old quotes :D

It might not be my expertise but I wanted to help out spread the word, help people inform themselves and try something different. I'll keep doing these when I have time, cause I'm pretty busy with drawing some other stuff lately.
Peace.

Ink

Hello to everyone.

I decided to post some of my previous stuff here. As first image here is fan-art I did for Serbian hip-hop artist Marčelo, inspired by his song "Mastilo" (Ink) . This artwork is homage to him. It also represents my love for comic books, particularly for Dylan Dog, and for inking of comic books. The reason for representing Dylan Dog style is because Marčelo is editor of Serbian version of that comic book in "Veseli četvrtak" publishing company.

Background for the image is taken from this picture. I draw this artwork based on photo reference from here. I firstly published this on my deviantART profile here.

By the way, I am thinking of redoing this art... or maybe not redoing but creating another piece that will draw inspiration from same song. I think of focusing on the vampire character that is mentioned in the song :D

I hope you like it,
Peace.
